For individuals with single-sided deafness (SSD), traditional hearing aids may not be suitable.
This is where CROS (Contralateral Routing of Signal) and BiCROS systems come in—specialist solutions designed to help you hear from both sides when only one ear has usable hearing.
CROS hearing aids are ideal for people with normal hearing in one ear and no useful hearing in the other. A microphone is worn on the poorer ear and transmits sound wirelessly to a receiver in the better ear. This allows the brain to pick up sounds from the ‘deaf side’ without turning your head.
BiCROS hearing aids are designed for people with no hearing in one ear and a hearing loss in the better ear. Sound is picked up from the deaf side and sent to a hearing aid on the better ear, which also amplifies sound for that ear’s hearing loss. This dual functionality helps improve overall hearing clarity and spatial awareness.
